CENTRE PEACE, Inc.
With the support of Huntingdon Presbytery and the
Synod of the Trinity Centre Peace is proceeding with a Mentor
program and focusing more serious attention to their re-entry
component. This generous support has inspired them to re-name the
program "Mentoring for Re-Entry."
In addition, encouraged by the continuous support of the
Presbytery and Synod Centre Peace, Inc. has added an inmate (in
the Project Restore Training program) to their Board and hired an
inmate graduate of Project Restore as a staff member.
Recently, they gave a presentation at the state capital
(televised) as part of a CURE (Citizens United for the
Rehabilitation of Errands) Rally where they encouraged
Restorative Justice programs as an alternative to our present
retributive justice system. CentrePeace has never found
Restorative Justice to fail - - credited to the fact that
Restorative Justice is based on all religion's basic principles.
The National Director applauded CentrePeace, Inc. for their
definition of Restorative Justice: "When an offense is
committed, the response offers avenues of accountability and
healing rather than hurting anyone."
