“Starting New Initiatives: A Discernment Process” |

This is a new, extensive resource from the Office of Church Growth which helps church Sessions and other church leaders discern how God is calling them to live as faithful disciples.
It is a three module—prepare, engage, and send—discernment process. The prepare module helps Sessions and churches determine what ideas and strategies need to be ended so that the church can move forward in being the church God has called it to be in this place at this time. The engage module helps identify opportunities for mission and create a workable plan for meeting these opportunities. The send module proposes a covenant and a check list of items that are needed for the opportunities to be successful mission strategies.
This resource is available in a number of formats:
1) download form the pcusa.org site http://www.pcusa.org/. “New Initiatives” comes as a PDF file and can be found under the “Resources” tab at http://www.pcusa.org/resource/starting-new-initiatives/. It is 123 pages so this might not be the best way to obtain it.
2) Hard copies can be ordered from sherry.britton@pcusa.org or by calling 1-888-728-7228 ext 5247.
3) Hard copies will be available at the June Presbytery meeting. Copies not claimed then will be sent to the presbytery office and available from there.
NEW DVDs AVAILABLE
New DVDs from Church Mutual Insurance are available from the Presbytery Resource Center. New titles include: Child Sexual Abuse, Improving Safety in Your Worship Center, Crime Proof Your Worship Center, Preventing Workplace Injuries, Fire Safety, Avoiding Employment Law Pitfalls, The Road to Safer Transportation.
These are 12-15 minute DVDs designed to help Sessions and Committees responsible for these issues to confront a variety of issues facing Churches in the contemporary world.
